Step 1. Start with the Base
Your homemade gift basket needs to start with a base. To create a sports themed gift basket for the sports fan, your base should be more than just a wicker basket. Use our 5 qt Pails to fill up with all kinds of items that your favorite fan will enjoy. These pails are waterproof and can hold ice, water...Does your sports fan like beer? Fill the bucket up with his favorite beverage and wrap with clear plastic wrap.

Step 2 - Suggestions to fill the basket
If you use our 5 qt Pails as a base you now have a very sturdy place to place all your gift basket items in. Make sure your base has a handle to carry and make it easy to grab the basket. Whether the gift basket is a birthday, fathers day, christmas, get well or business make sure the basket has a common theme - like a sports team - keep all the items with a similar uniqueness.

Step 3 - Arranging your gift basket items
Once you have all items and are ready to make the gift basket yourself start with the largest items first. You dont want to have smaller items on the bottom. You dont want to crush the smaller items, plus, you want to present the basket that shows a little bit of every item. This is the best way to present a gift basket. Stack each item so the end up like the shape of a Christmas tree. This way the gift basket wont tip over.
Step 4 - Final Touches
Some people will place the card on the inside of the gift basket and thats a good idea. It prevents the card from being lost or torn off the outside. Wrap the basket in heavy cellophane plastic wrap. Available at any gift store or gift section of any major retail store. Some people use colored wrap for their basket and that adds a nice touch - however - do not use a dark color such that the inside items cannot be seen. This defeats the purpose of a gift basket. You could just put them in a box.
Wrap the basket by laying the cellophane on a flat surface, place the basket on top of the cellophane. Don't worry about not using too much wrap. Once the basket is now centered on the wrap bring each side up and above the gift basket...center the top and once all four sides are centered, twist the cellophane in your hand leaving excess above your hand. Tie with ribbon where you twisted the cellophane. Fan out the cellophane that is above the ribbon. This may take a couple of tries to look exactly how you like it, practice will make perfect.
